This week, the FractureLine Team met with Dr. Jen Brewer (PGY-5 UConn w/ Dr. Doben). She is one of CWIS's multi-year Resident members. Dr. Brewer is also the 2024 Winner of EAST's Essay Contest, making her the recipient of the Oriens Award! Next year she will be taking her skills to New Orleans at LSU with Dr. Greiffenstein!!

Dr. Doben has led us through the 2023 year and now into 2024, and we get an inside look at his reflections on the year and hopes for us going forward! FL Introduces Dr. Crystal Zhang, MD, MPH

This week, the FractureLine Team met with Dr. Crystal Zhang, MD, MPH (PGY-5 at Ascension St. Vincent and rising CWIS star). Dr. Zhang has jumped into CWIS membership with attendance at CWIS International and a presentation there, and now will be attending CWISummit 2024 with more to teach us! We also get some updates about the Summit and hear about where members can find us next until that time!

It is even revealed where this year's business meeting will be held! Finally, the holiday season is on us and to close we discussed some of our festive plans, which may even spark an idea for you!

This week, the FractureLine Friends met with a CWIS titan, Dr. John Edwards (Sheffield, England). We circled back on our newest fundraiser: Funding the Future in Fractures, hammering home the importance this has on our CWIS's future growth and the impact it will have on our patients going forward. Finally, there is considerable time given to Dr. Kryskow's mustache and its goal to raise awareness for prostate cancer.

We also got an update on the abstract deadline for the upcoming CWISummit (hint: it's now Nov 8th @ 23:59).

FL Gets to Gottingen, DE

This week, the cast is in Gottingen, Germany attending a special chest wall repair symposium led by Dr. Christopher Spering (Universitätsmedizin Göttingen). We are also joined by Dr. Stefan Schulz-Drost (Helios Hospital Schwerin) who was also in attendance. We get an inside look at how Germany is looking to innovate and move the study and fixation of ribs forward. Big things are ahead for our German colleagues and you won't want to miss this!
